Hello, my name is Georgia Darlene Herrera, and I am the art teacher and the tennis coach at Bay Springs Middle School. I have a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts and certification in Art Education (K-12). I had the pleasure of attending several universities around the south before graduation from UWG. I worked as a professional photographer and graphic designer for 10 years before returning to UWG to get my teaching certification. After 16 years at BSMS, I am still very excited to be teaching at the best school in Carroll County!
I have a brilliant husband, JD, who is also a great tennis player. We have three children; two in college and one in middle school. I am an artist and a teacher. I have a passion for art and teaching and try to make art whenever I can. I also love to travel and have been blessed to visit many fascinating places.
In the art room, creativity is the goal. Students will experiment with different types of art materials, see the work of various artists and art styles, and learn about other cultures as they relate to art. Students will have the opportunity to display art at school and in the community. We also participate in art contests sponsored by the Georgia Department of Transportation, Kiwanis, Carrollton Center for the Arts, and Carroll County Schools. Permanent art installations of student work can be viewed at the school entrance, around campus, at Hobbs Farm on the Greenbelt in Carrollton and inside the tunnel near Laura’s Park, also on the Greenbelt.
